I was shocked when my neighbor said he paid $14,000 for landscaping. Before he told me, I did a quick estimate, and I had come up with $3000 for the plants, dirt, mulch, etc. Another $1000 for tools, gas, etc., and he paid $10,000 for labor/profit. I would have done the job for half that price. 

The picture below is my house. We did the block wall, mailbox, the cobblestone runway for the mail lady, plants, trees and shrubs. There are small water sprinklers spread throughout the islands, and even the mailbox planters, and they are all operated on an automatic timer.
